As you can see from this grafitti in Panajachel, Guatemala, mayan art is alive and well in the Guatemalan highlands. The highlands are the traditional homeland of the Maya, and where the Mayan calendar is still in use today. Most of the 6 million or so Maya live there.

This wonderful Maya woman from Guatemala wears a hand embroidered blouse featuring roses and other flowers. The Maya are very colorful people.

This is one of the many restoration projects in Antigua Guatemala, Central America. Antigua was the Spanish capital of Central america from 1521 until 1773. It has been destrtoyed several times by natural disasters. Renovation and restoration projects are a common site, and a never ending process in Antigua Guatemala.
